Friend of the Cambodia Child’s Dream Organization

The Little Angels Orphanage has 70 children between the ages 4 -18 years. Most of the children attend school. However, they have the very bare basics and most kids sleep on the floor with no bedding, not even a thin mat. The orphanage is known for its "skin carving art", a series of different shapes and cutouts on a tanned piece of leather. These art pieces are sold to tourists, yet there is always a shortfall of $500 per month to fulfill basic food needs. The orphanage is run by Sery Rathana, a former orphan himself. He is dedicating his life to ensure that the children are well taken care of. Due diligence is paid on a monthly basis. The children are always clean and very well behaved. The premises are kept in immaculate condition. Most of the children have only one parent, who is unable to take care of them. These kids are grateful for the little that they have. It's mainly boys in the orphanage since girls generally, are prized, as they are the one's able to stay at home and take care of their parents and siblings.

Sunrise Children’s Villages

The Sunrise Children's Villages are two orphanages located in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The Australia Cambodia Foundation started in September 1993, following the first visit by Geraldine and a friend in 1993. The orphanages are now known as Sunrise Children's Villages and they care for hundreds of orphaned and disadvantaged Cambodian children. Our third Sunrise Children's Village has commenced construction in Sihanoukville. The Australian corporation, Computershare, has generously donated more than US$500,000 to realize this dream for a third centre, through its worldwide staff giving program, for which we are very grateful. This centre will give a home, medical care and education to more than 100 HIV affected children. Your support of these orphanages through child sponsorship is an amazing gift that continues to give life, hope, education, health and a future to those who had nothing.
Please view our video "We Can Be" which presents the Anthem for Sunrise.

Cambodia Children

The Children of Cambodia presented a wish concerning the opening of the adoption from Cambodia to Finland to Aulikki Kananoja, the executive director of Social welfare agency in Helsinki, Finland. The Children of Cambodia organization has provided the department of family affairs of the Social welfare agency with information concerning Cambodian laws on international adoption and informed them about the country's current status regarding adoption and orphanages. The above mentioned presentation was well received, and 11. February 2002 the adoption board of Finland decided to start cooperation with Cambodia.
The organization has also negotiated with the Cambodian authorities in Phnom Penh concerning the matter. Both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the interior have expressed their willingness to co-operate. In addition to Finland, Cambodian authorities are already functionally working with France, Canada, Singapore, Holland, Italy and England concerning international adoption. As a result of the co-operation with the western countries, the Cambodian law of adoption has been formed such, that it is compatible with the Finnish adoption law. In the future The Children of Cambodia organization will continue to work together with the organisations arranging adoptions.

The Lighthouse Orphanage Cambodia

Volunteers needed at the Lighthouse orphanage Cambodia Just 15 minutes from the city of Phnom Penh (Capital city of Cambodia) lies an orphanage that houses over 75 children aged 3 to 18 years. The children have been rescued from the street and the pagodas after being abandoned by their parents for various reasons. The lighthouse orphanage offers free housing, food and parental support to the children. Unfortunately it does not receive any form of funding from official bodies, currently the only support comes from donation by locals and tourists. The money and food that is received is barely enough to keep the orphanage running. The children are absolutely adorable and love to have visitors come to play with them. The moment you arrive at the gates, you'll be greeted with open arms and screams of joy! If you can spare some time, please help the children at the Lighthouse Orphanage. Contributions of any kind are very much appreciated.

Cambodia Orphan Save Organization (COSO)

I am Sean Samnang , president of Cambodia Orphan Save Organization (COSO), a shelter of the poor, homeless and orphaned in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. I would like to welcome you to the Cambodia Orphan Save  Organization  (COSO) website. This is an exciting time for me in both my projects and my personal life. The COSO (Non-Government Organization) was established on 11 September 2007 (previously being known as COSA, formed in 2006). The COSO (NGO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established to assist children in receiving their basic rights to food, shelter, protection and education. At COSO, we justly believe every life has equal value and each person is worthy of the chance of having a better way of life. As one who received a chance and has succeeded in life because of COSO’s support, I know how valuable chances are. The purpose of our programme is to give these vulnerable groups that same opportunity by contributing to and assisting them in their efforts. You will find ways to support our projects on the pages of this website under the Sponsorship and Project sections. You can also donate directly to COSO under the Donate section of the website.
